Happiness and Joy Defined
Just tonight, God showed me (again) the difference between happiness and joy. I've been cautiously using these words in describing an emotion ever since I've learned about their difference. I've heard a simple yet succinct definition of the two from a Pastor at CCF that goes like this:
"Happiness depends on happenings.
Joy depends on Jesus Christ."
Yes, I personally feel the difference.

Let It Go
Found this poem when I randomly checked from the influx of mails in my inbox from the Aqua Dgroup yahoogroups. I think it came from Rhyanne.
This was written by
TD Jakes, an American Pastor and writer, I'm just not sure when exactly. This could serve as a strong encourage to us especially those who still couldn't loosen their grip on the things from the past that hinder them from moving forward in their lives (Bambi, I know sinabi mo tinamaan ka dito. Ako din, somehow. hehe!
). The poem deeply touched me because the words that the author wrote tell of the principles I uphold to particularly when it comes to letting go of some things from the past.
So here it goes (phrases in bold/bigger font are by the poster
):
~~~
There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this!
When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk to another person into staying with you,
loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you,
staying attached to you.
I mean hang up the phone.
When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The Bible said that, They came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person,
it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.
You've got to know when it's dead.
You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something.
I've got the gift of good-bye.
It's the tenth spiritual gift,
I believe in good-bye.
It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful,
and I know
whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.
And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it.
Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!!
If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to ..LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to past hurts and pains... LET IT GO!!!
If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth... LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you...
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge...
LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction...
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or
talents...
LET IT GO!!!
If you have a bad attitude...
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...
LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new
level in Him...
LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship...
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves... LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed ....
LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it," then you need to...
LET IT GO!!!
Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing for 2008 !!!
LET IT GO!!!
Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then
LET IT GO!!!
JoC Update!
From Jars of Clay's website (
www.jarsofclay.com):
New Music (It's What We Do)
Hey friends -
We're proud to announce the release of our new EP Closer! Here's the scoop:
3 new songs - including the recently released as a sneak peak "Closer." A new track called "Safe to Land" and "Prisoner of Hope," which we used as end title credits to the movie "Sons of Lwala."
Also included are 2 favorites that we've reworked. "Flood" and "Lovesong for a Savior" have been given new life with this rerecording. It's something we've wanted to do for some time, to give the songs some different production, while keeping the soul of the songs we've loved for many years now. We hope you dig the re-interpretations!
Lastly, check out the art work - it's a collaboration between our fine lead singer Dan and our extremely talented friend Christy Little who worked on the artwork for the Christmas Songs album. There are many lyrical nods to the song Closer in it - we're all fans.
So - go get some new Jars music! And hang on for the full length record to release in early '09!
Weeeeeee!!!! I'm sooooooo excited!!!
Really curious about the new sound of "Flood" and "Love Song for a Savior" -- two of my faves from their very first album
Jars of Clay! Was actually trying to listen to the new EP songs from their
myspace site but I wonder why they weren't playing. I mean I could barely hear anything. Maybe something's wrong with our net connection. I'll just retry some other time anyway.
Anyhoo, just something that made me swoon
Confusionism
I'm confused. I don't know which of the two will I choose. I love them them both...
Will I go for the
one with a stylish, slim design that comes with my fave color and has features that the other one I'm eyeing lacks like built-in accelerometer that allows viewing of albums, pictures and videos in a "landscape" orientation, but has a smaller capacity (8gb and 16 gb only)?
Or will I choose the
one with a much, much bigger capacity (120 gb) that can hold up to 30,000 songs, 25,000 photos or 150 hours of videos which also has a sleek but bulkier design compared to the first one?
I'm torn between the two.
Design and features or capacity?
I'm afraid I might end up buying neither because of so much confusion...hahaha!
P.S. Thank you so much to my brother who made me feel even more confused. Yesterday, when I said I like the iPod classic 120gb, he was selling to me the new iPod nano saying it looks a lot better and more hip than classic. And when I mentioned earlier that I was able to "experience" nano at PowerMac and found it to be really cool, he is now convincing me to consider classic instead because of the capacity. Big thanks huh, you're really helping me decide.
